Room Parent Checklist

  • Week 3: Attend Room Parent meeting with APT Room Parent Coordinator
  • Week 3: Schedule meeting with teacher for next week
  • Week 4: Meet with teacher regarding the following items:
    • Understand Classroom Support Fund line items
    • Figure out parties for the year
    • Allocate funds utilizing priority of Classroom Support Fund document
    • Give “Getting to Know You” Form
    • Request Contact Info forms from teacher
    • Get a list of activities the teacher needs helpers to be assigned or lead
    • Does teacher want a yearbook at the end of the year? If so, allocate funds now.
  • Week 4: Make Classroom Directory using the forms from the teacher
  • Week 4: Finalize classroom email list if not complete
  • Week 6: Email (if possible) or send a paper copy home of the Introduction letter to all students in classroom as well as teacher.
  • Week 6: Track any funds received on the Income Form
  • Week 6: Send $20 to APT Treasurer for the classroom to support Specials Teachers.

(Only applicable to Kindergarten through 5th grade classes)

  • Week 6: Receive and track funds using Income form
  • Week 6: Distribute Classroom Directory to teacher and classroom
  • Week 6: Status teacher with income so far so teacher can communicate to class if more funds needed.
  • ongoing: forward emails from teacher to the whole class
  • ongoing: update Classroom Directory and classroom email list with new student info
  • Week 12: Fill out Income and Expense Form and forward to RPC and teacher (Due 11/1)
  • Week 12: Work with teacher to communicate funds status to class
  • April 2 week: Organize Teacher Appreciation week volunteers following APT schedule
  • May 6-10 week: Celebrate Teacher Appreciation week!
  • May 13: Fill out ‘Income and Expense Form’, email to RPC and teacher (Due 5/15)
  • May 13 week: Work with teacher to communicate funds to class, relating it to Classroom Funds received
  • Sign up to be a room parent next year!!!
