Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the Fitness Challenge?
The Fitness Challenge is an event that ALL Cherokee students participate in during their
“specials” period on a school day. The students attend the Fitness Challenge on the Cherokee
sports fields and circulate (as teams) to various activities/stations. Parents are encouraged to
attend and volunteer. The goal is for all students to get fit and move for at least 30 minutes.

How does fundraising work?
Students will receive a sponsorship envelope and website link that helps show them how to ask
friends/family to “sponsor” them in the Fitness Challenge. The students are PLEDGING to be
active for 30 minutes in exchange for the sponsorships they receive. Sponsors can pay online
by credit card OR give the student a check or cash (which they put in their envelope). When the
envelope goes home, there will be instructions on how to use the website to collection
donations online as well.

What if I don’t want my student listed online?
No problem! We will send home a form allowing families to “opt out” of the online portion of
the fundraising.

How can I volunteer?
We LOVE to see parents volunteer at the event. You can sign up here to help out on the day:
https://cherokeeapt.com/volunteer/major-fundraisers/ (just scroll down to the Fitness
Challenge section).

Can I attend the Fitness Challenge?
YES! You can attend as a spectator for the entire day or during the time that your student(s)
are participating.

When will my student be participating?
We publish a class schedule a week or two before the event – but USUALLY each grade
participates at the time during the day when they have their “Specials” period.
