Welcome New Families
Welcome to Cherokee! We look forward to getting to know you and helping you make this the best possible educational experience for you and your family. We hope that the Cherokee APT can assist you in making your transition easier.
The Cherokee APT is an integral part of the educational experience at Cherokee, built on the partnership with the Students, Teachers, Parents and Administration. Through our Annual APT Sponsorship, we are able to fund many key programs and events.
We have a program for new families called the New Family Buddy Program. This program matches families who are new to Cherokee with returning families, ideally with children in the same grade(s). The role of a Room Buddy is to help answer any questions you may have about Cherokee, and to help you become acclimated in any way.
If you are interested in being paired with a family, please fill out the contact form below and a new families laiason will contact you.
In addition, as a new family, we encourage you to do the following three things:
1. Please join the APT. Please print out the form on this site under “Join APT” and return it to the front office. In addition, please take a moment to learn more about the Cherokee APT, as it will most certainly enrich your overall experience at Cherokee.
2. The best way to stay informed is to become involved. Please see how you can get involved through the various ways to Support Cherokee. There are many opportunities, both large and small, to lend a hand, and everyone benefits.
Finally, please plan to attend our Cherokee APT Meetings which include a “Chat with Chantler.” These informative sessions will be held in the Cherokee Cafe and dates can be found under the APT calendar tab. Everyone is welcome – bring a friend! Topics discussed include school budget items (i.e., how funds are spent throughout the year), upcoming events, school district news and more! These meetings are a great way to hear about what is going on within Cherokee, ask questions, and to get to know other families at school.
Wishing you and your family all the best at Cherokee!
